President Hu Meets Model Police Officers

Chinese President Hu Jintao had a meeting Thursday with a group of police officers and representatives of public security departments that have been awarded for their heroic and exemplary accomplishments.

Hu, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), congratulated these individuals and units on behalf of the CPC Central Committee, the State Council and the CMC. 

Highlighting the importance of the police force, Hu said that for years the police force has kept their mission in mind, been loyal to their duties, worked diligently, loved the people, been devoted, and made outstanding contributions to safeguarding state security, maintaining social stability, and ensuring the people to lead a safe and happy life.

Hu said that those who have sacrificed their lives to safeguard the interests of the state and the people will remain alive in the hearts of all the people.

"You have lived up to being the loyal guards of the republic," he said. "The Party and the people have trust in you! The Party and the people are grateful to you!"

Luo Gan, secretary of the Committee of Political Science and Law under the CPC Central Committee, also spoke at Thursday's awarding conference. He the police force to work hard in capacity building and make greater contributions to the country's security, stability and development to a harmonious society.
