More Judicial Reform Promised

In order to create a harmonious and stable social environment, with a fair and efficient judicial environment, and build a moderately prosperous society, China will further reform the structure and operational mechanisms of the judicial sector.

Luo Gan, member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Central Committee's Committee of Political Science and Law, made the remarks at a national workshop on judicial reform yesterday.

Pushing forward judicial reform and establishing equality and justice throughout society are strategic tasks initiated by the Sixteenth Party Congress, said Luo.

The senior official said that the current judicial reform is one of the most important since the founding of New China, stressing that it must be pushed forward under the leadership of the Party and in an active, steady manner. He urged local Party committees and governments to firmly implement the central decision and plan on the issue.

Other officials attending the meeting included Zhou Yongkang, Xiao Yang and Jia Chunwang.
