Guilin to Host Eighth Tourism Festival

China's Guilin, well known for its picturesque mountains and rivers, will hold its Eighth Mountain and River Tourism Festival from April 15 to 20.

The major celebrations will take place in Xing'an County, which is in the northeastern part of Guilin and famous for the country's best-preserved ancient irrigation work -- the Lingqu Canal.

Meanwhile, a trade fair will be held during the festival, the official said.

Guilin received a record 9.63 million tourists last year, among whom 950,000 were from abroad.
