Qiantang Tide-watching Festival to Be Held in September

This year's China international tide-watching festival on the Qiantang River will be staged in Haining City of east China's coastal province of Zhejiang Sept.12-16.

The festival, an annual event, will be jointly held by Zhejiang provincial bureau of tourism and the government of Jiaxing City which exercises judicial administration over Haining, a county-level city.

During the five-day festival, a host of activities will be organized to entertain tourists, including a grand opening ceremony, an event to promote the cuisine of south China, and a symposium with the participation of representatives from both sides of the Taiwan Straits.

The bell-shaped mouth of the Qiantang River that runs through the province helps form the world-renowned tide, which has a crest as high as 3.5 meters.
