Lin Liankun: Soul of Drama
Lin Liankun, whose native place is Minhou County, Fujian Province, was born in Beijing on June 12, 1931. He is the First Grade Actor of Beijing People's Art Theater, member of Beijing Art Committee; member of China Dramatist Association, member of China Art Committee, President of Beijing Dramatist Association and Vice President of Beijing Culture Union.

He attended school in Beijing when he was young and engaged in drama activities when he was in middle school. He once made performances in the operas like "Rising…" and etc. In 1949, he was enrolled in the Common Section of the Central Drama College in 1949. In 1951, he stayed in the Modern Drama Group of Central Drama Collage. He now acts as an actor ever since Beijing People's Art Theater officially founded Special Modern Theater on June 1952. He once took the positions as actor leader, vice president and etc.

He sculptured lots of vivid characters in his dozens years of stage performance. Its representative works includes Wu Xiangzi in the "Teahouse", Hong Renjie in the "Neighbors", Old train leader in the "Absolute Signal", Liu Jiaxiang in the "Xiaojing Alley", Zheng Erbo in the "Wedding and Funerals", Gouerye in the "Nirvana of Gouerye", Chang Gui in the "Number One Storied Building in the World", San Ye in the "Bird Guy" and etc. His performance is very vivid, true, exquisite and has unique style, especially, his performance in the "Nirvana of Gouerye" and "Number One Storied Building in the World". The sculpture of the figures symbolizes that Lin Liankun has become mature in realism performance art, his mental and outward skills has become more and more perfect. His performances are not only vivid and forceful but also implicative and massive. It brings the aesthetic satisfaction to the people. The art figure, Gouerye, which was sculptured by his Lin Liankun, is regarded as "A typical figure that is rarely in the world and having the complex esthetics and will standing in the gallery of world literature works together with Guy Q that is created by Lu Xun". His performance has made outstanding contribution to the inherit and development of the styles of Beijing People's Art Theater. The stage figures that created by Lin Liankun have won lots of awards. His performance of the figure, Zheng Erbo, in Weddings and Funerals, has won excellent performance first grade award of 1984 National Drama, Modern Drama and Opera Emulation Show issued by the Ministry of Culture. His performance of the figure, Chang Gui, in The Number One Storied Building in the World has won the performance prize of the First Round Wen Hua Award, and the he also won the excellent performance awards issued by Beijing Municipal Culture Bureau, which includes, his performance of the figure of old train leader in the "Absolute Signal" and Di Changchuan in Old-eged Love in the Last Bus.

His performance of "Number One Storied Building in the World", was once showed in Japan, Hong Kong Area and Taiwan Area. His performance of the figure, Chang Gui, has won the popular praise and he is called as "Soul of Drama".

He was entitled as the Labor Model of Beijing City in 1983 and he was awarded the "National Modern Dram Rejuvenation Prize" issued by the Ministry of Culture in 1988 in order to commend his outstanding contribution to the China's Modern Drama Sense.

He once won the awards as follows:

Culture Essence Award; First Round, Chang Gui in the "Number One Storied Building in the World".

College Award of the Central Drama College

Excellent performance Award issued the Culture Bureau for many times

Excellent performance Award for Modern Opera and Drama Show issued by the Ministry of Culture.

Zheng Erbo in the Weddings and Funerals

The Best Supporting Role Award of the 6th Golden Cock Award in the film "Opium War of 1840-42".
