Liu Xiaoqing to Appear in Gala

Actress Liu Xiaoqing will take part in a gala show in Shanghai on Saturday and the event will mark her first public appearance since she was released from jail for alleged tax evasion.

Another notable guest will be Anita Mui, who is combating cancer.

The gala will celebrate Shanghai’s successful application to host the 2010 World Expo.

Nearly 100 entertainers will perform at the gala, including Michelle Yeoh, Karen Mok and Louis Koo.

All the stars will enter the theater on a red-carpet “starlight road” and the process will take at least one hour.

Liu is currently vacationing in Beijing. She was avoiding the media since she was released from jail in August.
