Former women's world champion Zhu Chen of China has lost to laptop computer "Star of Unisplendour" to trail 1-0 in her human vs machine chess match.

The 28-year-old international "queen of chess" lost in her 54th move after going over the time limit at the match in Beijing on Tuesday.

Zhu Chen says it is the first time she has played an official game with a computer and she has a problem with time.

She will play her second and last game with the computer on Saturday.

The "Star of Unisplendour" was developed by top Chinese IT company "Tsinghua Unisplendour Ltd". Its software programmers are also chess specialists. (Photo Source: sina.com.cn)
