World Vision Hong Kong here on Tuesday launched Hong Kong's Old Book Recycling Campaign for deprived children in Yunnan Province.

The campaign aims to support World Vision's Primary Health and Education Project in Diqing of Yunnan Province which is planned to provide children with education, nutritious food and health care.

According to World Vision Hong Kong, the public has donated more than 200,000 books, including textbooks, novels and leisure readings, children's books and reference books.

"Throughout these 13 years, we are delighted to have the full support of the public, making it the largest old book sale in town," said Chief Operating Officer of World Vision Hong Kong Agnes Ting.

"Our ultimate goal is to bring the deprived children in Chinese mainland back to school, and help them fight against poverty through education," he added.

Ting said that World Vision aimed to raise 110,000 HK dollars in the activity.

World Vision Hong Kong has been organizing the event since 1992with the aim to encourage the public to donate their used books for charity sale to raise funds for projects in the mainland.
