Fresco Discovered in Temple of Guandi

A 200-year old Qing dynasty fresco has been discovered on the wall of a temple in north China's Shanxi Province.

The fresco is said to be in good condition and contains typical stories about Guandi, or Guan Yu, an intrepid military general and hero during China's Three Kingdoms period, about 1,700 years ago. He is remembered for his kind heart, loyalty and patriotism.

The fresco is in vivid colors, and has a story caption for each group of pictures.

Experts say this kind of delicate comic-strip-like mural was rare among China's temple frescoes.
