China, ROK to Enhance Education Exchanges

China and the Republic of Korea (ROK) agreed to enhance education exchanges during a meeting between Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and ROK Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education and Human Resources Development Kim Jin-Pyo Wednesday.

Currently, there are about 36,000 ROK students studying in China, about half the total foreign students in the country. There are about 10,000 Chinese students studying in the ROK, making China also the largest source of foreign students there.

Last year, China opened a Confucius college in Seoul, offering Chinese language and culture courses to local students. It was the first such school outside China.
