Brochure on Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Issued

A brochure on the China Ethnic and Folk Culture Protection Project has been issued to guide the protection of local intangible cultural heritage across the country.

The brochure, compiled with the combined efforts of more than 100 experts and scholars, defines intangible cultural heritage and talks about the current protection situation in China. It also offers information on practical and theoretical support for protection work.

The brochure groups China's intangible cultural heritage into sixteen categories, including ethnic languages, folk literature, folk painting, folk music, folk dance, local operas, ballad singing and story telling, folk acrobatics, folk handicrafts, etiquette, festivals and seasons, folk beliefs, traditional sports and others.
