Prominent Taiwan Scholar Li Ao to Visit Chinese Mainland

Prominent Taiwan writer and political commentator Li Ao will visit the Chinese mainland this coming September, his first trip back in 56 years.

During his six-day visit, Li is expected to give lectures in two of the capital's top schools, Beijing and Tsinghua Universities.

Li Ao is Taiwan's foremost scholar and historian. He is well known by mainland intellectuals for his satire, sharp commentaries and poignant criticism.

Li Ao was born in Northeastern China's Harbin city in 1935 and grew up in Beijing. At the age of 14, he moved with his family to Shanghai and from there to Taiwan.
