Book Series Devoted to WWII

A book series depicting major events in China's victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1937-45) debuted at the 10th book fair held in Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province, on Thursday.

The six-volume book series, entitled Witnessing 1945, is published by Nanjing Publishing House. Each volume contains 50,000 Chinese characters and about 100 pictures.

Li Hairong, president of Nanjing Publishing House, disclosed that 0.6 yuan from the sale of each of the books would be donated to the memorial hall built in commemoration of the Nanjing Massacre, in which some 300,000 innocent civilians were slaughtered by Japanese invaders in December 1937 after the invaders took over Nanjing, then the Chinese capital.

Various activities were held or will be held in China and worldwide this year to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the end of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression in China, and the end of World War II (1939-1945).
