Project in Yuanmingyuan Lake to Resume

A controversial water conservation project in an ancient park in Beijing will resume in the middle of August.

Officials in charge of the Yuanmingyuan Park say they will take into full consideration the advice from State Environmental Protection Administration on the project.

The project, which is aimed at building a man-made layer on the riverbed of the park, was suspended earlier this year amid fear that it might affect aquatic plants and animals in the area.

Yuanmingyuan is an imperial park, which was destroyed by the allied forces in 1860.
