A painting and calligraphy exhibition opened at the Military Museum of the Chinese People's Revolution in Beijing Thursday to mark the 60th anniversary of the victories of the anti-Japanese war and the world anti-fascist war.

More than 300 works were on show at the four-day exhibition, titled "Great Victory."

Addressing the opening ceremony held Thursday, Yang Shengqun, deputy head of the Party Literature Research Center of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee, said, "The aim of the exhibition is to enhance education on patriotism, inspire people of all nationalities to revitalize China and promote world peace and development."

The exhibition was jointly organized by People's Daily, Chinese Artists' Association and the Chinese Calligraphers' Association.
