Canadian Fairy Tale Has Chinese Version

The famous Canadian fairy tale Anne of Green Gables was published in Chinese version last week, to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Canada.

With 50 million circulation in over 50 languages, the Canadian classics received first Chinese copyright from the grandson of the author Lucy Maud Montgomery. She finished the book in 1904 and the book was published in 1908.

The best seller also became the choice of movie and music opera. The author's hometown Edward Island gained popularity among world's readers.

Cultural exchanges will help enhance mutual understanding and respect. "I believe that Chinese readers of different ages will like the story," said Joseph Caron, former Canadian ambassador to China.
