Shanghai Recruiting Overseas Financial Specialists
A group composed of representatives from financial institutions in Shanghai, China's leading financial center, went to the United States and Canada recently to recruit specialists in the financial sector.

This was the first group ever organized by Shanghai to recruit overseas specialists, the team leader said.

Some 80 vacancies in the fields of security, financial analysis-commerce, marketing, investment banking and IT have been offered. Annual salaries for these posts average more than 150,000 yuan (some US$180,000), with the highest topping one million yuan (US$120,000).

The group has received approximately 500 applications. And scores of them have signed letters of intent.

An official in charge of Shanghai's financial sector said the municipality will recruit more specialists through various channels in the future. This will be a long-term task as long as the city is striving to become an international finance center.
