Leading Chinese Collectors Stage Antique Show in Beijing

Wang Shixiang and Yuan Quanyou, a couple well known for their research on Chinese antiques, Friday have launched an exhibition of their collections in the Poly Theater in Beijing.

The five-day exhibition, co-sponsored by the China Guardian Auction Co. Ltd., will feature more than 140 antiques, including ancient musical instruments, a copper furnace, Buddha figures, furniture, bamboo and wood sculptures.

All the exhibits will be auctioned at the autumn auctions of Guardian later this year.

Wang Shixiang, born in 1914, a member of the National Committee for Cultural Relics Authentication and Preservation, is renowned for his authoritative study of furniture from the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
