Concert Held to Mark World AIDS Day

Beijing recently played host to a pop concert in conjunction with World AIDS day, which will fall on December 1. Performance at the show were artists from South Korea as well as China.

The show opened with a burst of music from an all-girl percussion band. After teen-idol Yi Yang gave a rendition of his recent hit "Reunion", the honey-voiced Li Xiaomeng was joined by Kang Sung from South Korea to perform the song "Cherish".

But the star of the concert was without doubt Huang Yishan. The singer received top honors at the show for his work in financing the schooling of ten HIV-infected children. The young singer performed the recently-composed "Eternal Life" and shook hands with AIDS patients.

The later part of the show was reserved for the heavyweights of China's pop music scene. Feng Xiaoquan, Man Wenjun, Shao Ping and Tang Can all turned up to show their commitment to fighting the deadly disease and promoting AIDS awareness in China.
