Fans in Hong Kong and neighboring cities mourned the death of famous Hong Kong diva Anita Mui Tuesday after she lost battle against cervical cancer in the morning.

Jackie Chan, a film star, said Mui hoped fans to "stay calm and not to cry for her." Chan, who rushed to the hospital Monday night sending Mui away, said Mui "left the world only after saying good-bye to all her close friends."

Mui was admitted to the hospital Monday night and died at 2:50 a.m. local time on Tuesday. The forty-year-old star confirmed her illness in early September, but performed in a series of concerts and programs subsequently.

Fans felt sudden at the Mui's death. A girl in Singapore said on the web "My tears keep rolling down. You are really the type of person which I like."

Many Hong Kong people went to the CD stores to buy her products. A middle-aged woman said, "It's so big a pity that we lost her. Mui has brought enjoyment to me over the past two decades."

Mui, an easy-going woman, had lots of friends who stayed by her death bed. They said Mui went "really peacefully and beautifully."

They are preparing for a funeral for Mui, who always tried to show the beautiful side in all her life.
