Veteran Hong Kong vocalist and film star Lisa Wong

Veteran Hong Kong vocalist and film star Lisa Wong, or Wang Ming-chun, was conferred an Honorary Doctor of Letters by City University of Hong Kong, China's portal website Sina.com reports on Friday.

According to the university's official website, Lisa Wong has contributed significantly to the community and in particular to the art and cultural development of Hong Kong.

The degree award ceremony will be formally held in November 2007 during the University's Congregation.

The 60-year-old actress has been in the entertainment circle for 40 years and has starred in more than 50 TV drama series.

The singer is recognized in the Hong Kong entertainment circles as an evergreen tree, and has long struggled against breast cancer.

The well-known "Big Sister" is currently busy preparing for her solo concert.
