10,000 Pledge to Protect Wildlife

More than 10,000 residents of Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan Province, have signed their names on a streamer, pledging to protect wildlife and the environment, reports Chuncheng Evening News.

Initiated by the provincial forest-preservation department, the campaign also saw 50 chefs taking an oath to refuse cooking animals or plants on the country's protected list.

One more streamer, about 100 meters long, had to be added to the original - which was 50 meters long - because of the strong response.
