Wang Yu Fails to Make Breakthrough

Wang Yu, China's sole player in men's singles, failed to make history after he wasted three set points during a second round clash against Dutch Peter Wessels in Beijing on Friday.

The game was originally scheduled for Thursday but cancelled due to heavy rain.

Wessels took the first set with ease: 6-1. The two then entangled in a close fight in the second set where Wang Yu wasted three sets to hand the victory to his rival.
