Venice Film Festival Favors Chinese Female Directors

Two edgy Chinese female directors' films Wu Qiong Dong and Rosy Cheeks have been selected for the Horizons session of the upcoming Venice Film Festival.

The two films depict Chinese women's perplexed state of mind and moral attitudes.

The Horizons section is focusing on the new trends in cinema around the world.

Hong Kong director Stanley Kwan's Everlasting Regret is the only Chinese film entered in Competition session. While, Tsui Hark's Seven Swords and Chen Kexin's musical Perhaps Love will respectively be the opening and closing film of the festival.

This year's Venice Film Festival runs from August 31st to 10th September and includes 4 main sections: In Competition, Out of Competition, Horizons, and Corto Cortissimo.
