Chinese veteran director Zhang Yimou has reportedly been asked to reshoot R-Point, a Vietnam War film directed last year by South Korean Kong Su-chang.

In the South Korean original, a Korean platoon goes deep into the jungle to search for soldiers lost at a place haunted by an ancient curse. Between the local residents, the ghosts, and the phantom American and Korean soldiers, they must keep their sanity if they want to return alive.

Despite Monday's announcement by Tartan Films, the largest European distributor for Asian productions, neither Zhang Yimou nor anyone from his Beijing New Picture Films has publicly confirmed the project. In fact, Zhang Weiping said Zhang Yimou would definitely not go to Hollywood. He added that Zhang Yimou is currently working on the post-production of Lonely Ride over a Long Distance. He also has two projects set to launch. The first one is a Loulan Kingdom film set 2,000 years ago with Chow Yun-fat and Gong Li, scheduled for shooting in February. The second is a martial arts film with Jackie Chan, and possibly Jet Li.
