53 Illegal Websites Blacklisted

China's General Administration of Press and Publication of China (GAPP) on Tuesday issued warnings to 53 websites that provide downloads of 14 pornographic games.

GAPP also announced it was activating a warning system against illegal internet publication.

The warning system will monitor websites that provide pornography, violence, or links to those illegal publications, said GAPP.

GAPP will call in and warn persons in charge of illegal websites and punish websites that do not remove illegal content within 24 hours after receiving a warning. For regular offenders, GAPP will revoke their running licences and even close down their sites.

GAPP has asked provincial branches and communications departments for cooperation in censoring cyber games and web literature to ensure a "clean environment" on the world wide web.
