Shanghai Customs Seizes Smuggled Fireworks
Customs authorities in Shanghai recently seized 70 tons of smuggled fireworks worth more than 400,000 yuan (about US$48,193).

The fireworks were found at the Waigaoqiao checkpoint in early July. The fireworks were in two containers with the label "plastic flowers" and being exported by the Jiangxi Anyuan Import and Export Company Limited .

A routine inspection of freight destined for the Middle East region showed that inside the two containers, there were more than 3,000 boxes of fireworks.

The Shanghai Customs authorities and the Shanghai Customs Police have fined the owner of the goods 90,000 yuan (US$10,843).
