Police Crack over 100,000 Robberies
Chinese police have cracked more than 100,000 cases of robbery and theft and broken up over 7,000 criminal gangs over the past month, the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) announced Monday.

Given the rapid increase in the number of robberies in some areas of the country, the Chinese police have launched a two-month intensive nationwide crackdown against theft and robbery starting August 1.

An official with the MPS said that more than 28,000 theft, burgling and waylay cases and 88,000 cases of robbery with violence have been uncovered by Chinese police during the crackdown.

According to sources from police departments from all over China, public security has improved and the rising trend of robberies has been contained in some places and the sense of security among people keep increasing, thanks to the crackdown.
