Civil Servants Study Party Guidelines
Central government departments and organizations have held meetings and lectures to help civil servants reconcile their thoughts with the guidelines established at the recently-concluded 16th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

Civil servants are urged to earnestly carry out the tasks entrusted to them by the Party at the congress to stimulate the overall growth of China's economy, politics and culture, propel the socialist modernization drive forward and make new progress in the building of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

Zeng Peiyan, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and minister in charge of the State Development Planning Commission, said governmental departments, organizations and CPC members should make the theme of development their primary task and adhere to the guidelines.

He urged them to intensify efforts to explore new ways and make new contribution to industrialization, township building, the strategic development of the western region, the reform of investment, finance and pricing mechanisms, the nurturing of a healthy market system, the intensification of opening-up and reform, the expansion of employment and improvement in the standard of living.
