President Hu Jintao met with French President Jacques Chirac in Gleneagles, Scotland on Thursday, and the two leaders discussed bilateral ties and regional and world issues.  

The two presidents met on the sidelines of an informal meeting between leaders of the Group of Eight and leaders of China, India, Brazil, Mexico and South Africa.
