China, Cambodia to Strengthen Cooperation on Legislative

Cambodian National Assembly is ready to expand cooperation with Chinese legislative to promote the rule of law, Cambodian National Assembly President Prince Norodom Ranariddh said on Thursday.

 

Ranariddh made the remarks during meeting with visiting Chinese delegation headed by Jiang Zhuping, a member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress (NPC).

 

He said thanks to the attention and cultivation of Cambodian former King Norodom Sihanouk and the generations of Chinese leadership, Cambodian-Chinese friendship had continued to grow stronger and entered into the best stage of history.

 

He thanked the Chinese people and government for their support and assistance to Cambodia's independence, peace and reconstruction over the years and for the remarkable efforts made for former King's health.

 

He said the relation between two legislators is the important part of the relations of the two countries. He expressed hope to further strengthen the exchanges and cooperation between the two legislators in efforts to promote the rule of law and the traditional friendships and cooperation between Cambodia and China.

 

Jiang, appreciated Cambodia's royal family, National Assembly and the government for their consistent adherence to the one-China policy and firm support of the Chinese government's stance on such issues as Taiwan and Tibet.

 

Jiang and his delegation arrived in Phnom Penh on Saturday for a six-day goodwill visit to Cambodia at the invitation of Cambodian National Assembly.
