China, Romania Pledge to Strengthen Cooperation

State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan and visiting Romanian Foreign Minister Mihai Razvan Ungureanu said in Beijing Monday that the two countries will jointly carry forward the all-round friendly and cooperative partnership.

During his meeting with Ungureanu, Tang noted that the China-Romania relations have been growing "smoothly" ever since the two countries were tied diplomatically 56 years ago, adding that they have established "stronger" mutual understanding and trust with expanding cooperation in various fields.

Tang also expressed appreciation on Romania for its consistent adherence to the one-China policy and its support to the great cause of reunifying the country.

Ungureanu said that Romania gives top priority to developing ties with China and is willing to strengthen cooperation of mutual benefit with China in all fields.

He also reiterated that his country will continue to adhere to the one-China policy.

Ungureanu arrived in China on Saturday at the invitation of Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing.
