China, Kyrgyzstan to Enhance Cooperation

China is ready to enhance coordination with Kyrgyzstan within multilateral framework of the UN and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, said Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing in Beijing Wednesday.

Li told Kyrgyzstan Foreign Minister Alikbek Jekshenkulov in their official talks that China attaches great importance to its relations with Kyrgyzstan and hopes to boost bilateral cooperation in politics, trade and economy and culture.

Li spoke positively of fruitful results the two countries have made in developing bilateral ties since they established diplomatic relations 14 years ago.

He also expressed appreciation for the support that the Kyrgyz government has rendered to China on issues including the Taiwan question and the strike over East Turkistan terrorist force.

Jekshenkulov said Kyrgyzstan-China relations take an important position in his country's overall foreign policy. Kyrgyzstan will stick to the Sino-Kyrgyz agreement on good-neighborly and friendly cooperation and other bilateral documents.

The Kyrgyz government firmly supports the one-China policy and will deepen bilateral cooperation in an all-round way, he added.

The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.

Jekshenkulov arrived in Beijing Tuesday for a five-day official visit to China as guest of Li.
