Adjust font size:

Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf Wednesday resigned as army chief, according to the official PTV.

Vice Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani will take over as the new army chief after Musharraf relinquishes the charge, said the report.

A grand "change of command ceremony" is underway in a stadium near the General Headquarters (GHQ) in the garrison city of Rawalpindi, some 30 km south of the capital Islamabad.
