China to work with Asian nations to protect women's and children's rights
Adjust font size:

Chinese top legislator Wu Bangguo said Wednesday China would promote cooperation with Asian nations in protecting the legal rights of the women and children.

Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), made the remarks when meeting with some representatives who were attending the fifth Asian Women Parliamentarians' and Ministers' Conference held in Beijing.

Wu said improving the education among women and girls is an important way to encourage the women to participate in social, political and economic development and measure how much social progress and civilization a nation has taken.

He said the Chinese government attaches importance to women's education, and take measures to secure the legal rights of women and children.

The representatives said they hoped to learn from each other to improve the work on women and children in their own nations.
