China Urges Political Solution on Iraq Issue
China on Tuesday reiterated its stance of wanting a diplomatic and political solution to the Iraq issue within the framework of the United Nations.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue said at a regular press conference that inspectors from two relevant organizations of the United Nations were continuing their work in Iraq. The inspection was being carried out in line with UN Security Council requirements, to which Iraq had given its full cooperation.

The Security Council should draw its conclusions based on the inspectors' report, Zhang said, stressing that China hoped for a diplomatic and political solution to the issue.
