A senior official from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) said in Beijing Friday that the academy aims to become a world recognized research academy while sticking to the guidance of Marxism.
Under the strict guidance of Marxism, Vice President CASS Leng Rong said, the academy needs to restructure its research plans and management.
Social scientific research should be based on practical problems while theories should be verified by practice, Leng said, adding that his fellow researchers should focus on vital practical problems which are concerned with overall social and economic development.
In the past year, the CASS established a Marxism Academy and prepared itself to form an academic committee whose membership is the top honorary title for Chinese social scientists.
The CASS is also active in helping localities to adopt wiser economic and social policies.
