Shanghai SMIC Issues 0.18-Micrometer Semiconductor Resolution
Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp. (Shanghai) (SMIC) on August 7 announced that it will cooperate with China's semi-conductor provider, the company issued its 0.18 micrometer semiconductor resolution today.

SMIC said that the resolution is designed for the 0.18-micrometer CMOS (complementary metal-oxide semiconductor), it will be offered to all SMIC consumers.

According to president of SMIC, many consumers are interested in the 0.18 micrometer technique.

He said that the resolution has the advantages of good properties, low consumption and high density. It will attract many new resolutions and will stimulate the industry to a further growth.

According to source of SMIC, it has got authorization and can sell the design to consumers.

So far, the company has an eight-inch chip production line, which was put into operation at the beginning of the year, it is expected to produce 25000 chips per month by the end of this year.
