Home-made Digital Signal Processor Makes Its Debut
Researchers at the Shanghai Jiaotong University have claimed a major breakthrough in home grown semiconductors, saying they have produced a digital signal processor.

The Hisys Number one is a 16-bit processor using a 18(micron) process. It includes a 32-bit kernel and flies along at a frequency of 200MHz.

The Chinese Academy of Sciences claimed recently that it had developed "Godson II" (Godzilla II), reducing the need to rely on foreign manufacturers.
