French Mayors Invite More Chinese Tourists

France wants to attract more Chinese travelers to not only Paris, but also the little mountainous towns with unique cultures, Jean-Marie Bockel, mayor of Mulhouse of France, said in Chengdu on Tuesday.

Bockel is one of a group of French mayors attending the second China-France Round Table of Mayors in Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province.

Fashion, perfume and delicious food are the characteristics of France, the mayor said.

Guy Tardieu, director of the president office of Air France, said the airline company will consider increasing flights between the two countries.

He said the just concluded annual meeting of French tourism chamber in Beijing show that Air France and many French tourism agents value the Chinese market.

Maxime Bono, mayor of La Rochelle, said cities should preserve the buildings which are special historical records. La Rochelle used to be a fishing market. With careful consideration, the local government retained it and turned it into a museum.

Likely, Strasbourg held modern arts exhibition in old buildings every year, said its Mayor Fabienne Keller, noting this will enable travelers feel the glamour of modern arts when traveling in historical sites.
