The UK tourism board has launched a campaign in the city to attract more locals to travel to the United Kingdom.

It was Britain's first tourism promotion in China since both countries signed a memorandum of understanding on Approved Destination Status on January 21, which facilitates Chinese group tourism to England.

Virgin Atlantic said it has begun operating five flights a week between Shanghai and London.
