A marine carnival will be held for six days from Saturday afternoon in Nan'ao Subdistrict of Longgang District to promote east Shenzhen as a tourist destination.

Featuring dragon boat races, art performances and a sea urchin food festival, 16 events will be held at Moon Bay on Dapeng Peninsula.

Altogether 17 teams from Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Dongguan will take part in the dragon boat races. A folk music band and a gong and drum band will play at a concert Saturday evening. There will be free windsurfing, remote control airship and motorboat performances. Fresh and dried seafood and pictures of seafood will be exhibited at the seafood festival.

Bordering Daya Bay on the east, Dapeng Bay on the west and the South China Sea on the south, Nan'ao is a tourist resort that covers Qiniang Mountain, Dongchong beach, Xichong beach, Judiaosha beach and Dongshan pearl farm.

The traditional customs there include the grass dragon dance, dragon boat race and fishermen's weddings on the sea. Delicious seafood including abalones and sea urchins are served at almost all the restaurants there.
