Tibetan Tourism Welcomes Its Golden Season

From August to October each year, Tibet has the most pleasant climate and the highest percentage of oxygen, making it the best season for travel.

Reporter learned from Southwest Airlines that, in order to satisfy travelers' demand of traveling to Tibet, made a prompt new arrangement on the capacity, increasing sharply the capacity of routes to Lhasa.

In August, the temperature in Lhasa, Linzhi and Rikaze is usually 10 to 23 degrees centigrade, and even in October, the temperature in those places is mostly above zero degree centigrade.

Various traditional folk culture and art festivals in Tibet are mostly held in this period too.

For instance, in August, there will be Shoton Festival in Lhasa, Buddha Exhibition Festival in Drepung Monastery, Changtang Chachen Horse Racing Festival in Nakchu area, Dama Festival (meaning archery competition when riding a horse) in Jiangzi (an ancient city that fought against British invaders), and Harvest (Ongkor) Festival that Tibetan farmers celebrate to wish the harvest season.

Tibet Autonomous Region will welcome the great occasion of the 40th anniversary in September. The world-shaking change since Tibet Autonomous Region's founding is no doubt a big attraction to visitors.
