Outbound Chinese Tourists Warned of Crimes

Since summer is the high season of outbound trips, China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued an announcement on its official website to caution Chinese citizens about their personal safety and against thefts and robberies.

They are specially advised not to show off their expensive personal belongings in public or scenic spots. In case of emergency, they should contact local Chinese embassies for help.

It was learned that recently Paris had seen some cases of thefts, robberies and violent attacks happened to Chinese tourists in airports, bus stations, subway and scenic spots.

Most victims took high-grade video cameras, cameras, luxurious handbags and a large amount of cash with them. At present, China's Embassy to France is working closely with the French police to investigate the above cases.

Moreover, in the recent period, China's Embassy to Russia often received reports of Chinese citizens' being attacked and robbed by gangsters.

The China's Embassy to Russia paid close attention to such cases and has negotiated with the Russian party and required related departments of Russia to take effective measures to ensure human and property safety of Chinese citizens.

In view of the frequent occurrence of attacks and robberies happened to Chinese citizens in Russia, China's Embassy to Russia released an announcement to caution Chinese citizens traveling in Russia to watch out.
