Imperial Court Cuisines to Be Served-up in Shanghai

A galaxy of Cordon Bleus from around the world will attend the Shanghai Food & Drink Expo this November, and local residents can savor the imperial court cuisines of eight dynasties, today's Youth Daily reports.

In yesterday's briefing on the Expo, Mr. He Yizhao, president of Shanghai Catering Professions Association, introduced the highlight of the expo, the Shanghai International Cuisine Festival, also a showcase for Cordon Bleus from the mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore and elsewhere.

The closing ceremony will include a grand banquet of some 200 tables. The main course will consist of the imperial court cuisines of eight ancient Chinese dynasties with some modern touches.

At the expo, 30 teams of chefs will prepare their competition entries in the hall. Local residents can watch and taste the dishes. They are also invited to be judges.
