Shanghai People Prefer DIY Tour

The unusual heat in Shanghai in the summer prompted local people to go outside and many people chose to tour by themselves in stead of registering at the travel agency.

Some people went to Huangshan Mountain on weekend. For these travelers, they prefer making the plan by themselves and having a short time tour with friends, lovers or family members.

They might not have enough time to visit all the scenic spots there, but Ms. Fang, a fan of such do-it-yourself tour, said she felt more relaxed in this way and she could choose where she wanted to go.

Ms. Fang told reporters that during the trip to the mountain, she met a lot of individual tourists like her.

Information from the travel agency showed that although summer was a booming season for Shanghai people to travel, there weren’t many registrations at the travel agencies.

Many tourists called the agency just for the information of the travel routes. Once they were familiar with the routes, they would go by themselves.

For long-distance travel, tourists might just book the air tickets and make hotel reservation through travel agencies and leave the choice of tourist activities to themselves.
