Beijing to Hold Taiwan Food Festival in Oct.

Sources from Taiwan said that the vogue of Taiwan food is still in the ascendant in the mainland.

At the Beijing Shin Yeh Restaurant, which was open just three months ago, customers who have not reserved a table have to wait at the doorway.

Taiwan fruit booths in department stores achieved two million RMB (US$246,600) revenues in the first month.

In such fever, the first Taiwan Food Festival will be grandly held in Beijing on October 1st. Insiders predict that the festival will attract 400,000 visitors at least.

According to China Times, the Taiwan Food Festival jointly sponsored by the mainland and Taiwan will be open at Beijing's Chaoyang Park during the National Day golden week (from Oct. 1 to 7).

Visitors will be able to enjoy Taiwan delicacies such as tapioca milk tea, Manabe coffee, roasted sausages and Taiwan-style sun cakes; besides, the sponsors will provide a special magazine on Taiwan food culture titled "Easy access to Taiwan Fun". The sponsors intend to bring Beijing residents and Taiwan closer.
