Shenyang Ice and Snow Festival to Open On Dec 1

Shenyang Ice and Snow Festival will kick off at Shenyang Qi Pan Shan Ice and Snow World On December 1, 2005. The event will last 88 days till February 26, 2006.

With a cover space of 8 million square meters, the Ice and Snow World is divided into nine different areas including high mountain skiing, snow and ice sculptures, entertainment on ice, helicopter tour, snow and ice sports, farm park, commercial complex. It is expected that the festival this winter will draw one million visitors both from home and abroad.

The theme of the ice and snow festival this winter is "snow and ice travel with an enjoyment of nature." For many travelers, Shenyang has been a first stop on northeast snow and ice tour. It is common practice for travelers from Chinese southern cities and southeastern countries to see sculptures in Shenyang, rime trees in Jilin, ice lanterns in Heilongjiang.
