Guangzhou to Receive 18.28 Mln Passengers in Festival

Guangzhou Railway Station is expected to receive 18.28 million passengers in the coming Spring Festival, according to Guangzhou Railway Group.

The passenger flow would be 252,000 more than that in the previous year, or 1.4 percent up year-on-year. About 457,000 passengers would be dealt with daily at the railway station.

The peak traveling season will last for 40 days from Jan. 14 to Feb. 22 in 2006. The transportation pressure would be felt, as people living, working or studying away from their hometowns would head home for family reunions.

The railway authorities have advised passengers to leave for home earlier so as to avoid the peak traveling season from Jan. 22to 28.

The Spring Festival will fall on Jan. 28, 2006. It's the most important traditional festival for Chinese to celebrate the beginning of a new year.
