Macao Sees Year-on-year Rise in Number of Hotel Guests

Macao recorded 387,940 hotel guests in November, a year-on-year rise of 10.2 percent, according to official statistics issued on Friday.

The figures from the government-run Statistics and Census Service (SCS) showed that the average hotel occupancy in the month stood almost flat at 82.6 percent over the same period of 2004.

The highest occupancy rate was logged in three-star hotels at 90.7 percent, the figures showed.

The majority of hotel guests came from the Chinese mainland (62.0 percent), Hong Kong (21.9 percent) and Taiwan (2.8 percent).

The SCS statistics also showed that the number of hotel guests in the first 11 month of 2005 stood at 3.7 million, a year-on-year rise of 3.5 percent.
